Windows 10: my fan on my computer is now randomly turning on and off

i have a dell g16 gameing laptop and the fan for somereason was turning on and off i ran a virus scan nothing came up so idk why it was doing that do i have a virus or something?

Computer randomly turns off and the fans start speeding up fast.

When I am playing games, my computer randomly turns off and the fan start spinning super-fast. It happens randomly and usually a few times during the day. This has been happening throughout the week.

I only saw this thread now, otherwise I would have suggested this sooner.
I had that same problem you are having, my computer was waking-up from S3 and the culprit was my X7 mouse.
powercfg -lastwake also listed the HID keyboard device which was an extension of the mouse.
Besides going in device manager and setting everything to not being able to wake-up the computer from S3, I also did this to the power profiles:

2. The BIOS CMOS battery has a bug or is out of battery.
   
3. The motherboard, wires, or other internal components are faulty or damaged.
   
4. The motherboard is touching the case or cables underneath it.
   

To fix this issue, you can try the following steps:

• Check if the fan is plugged into the correct CPU fan header on the motherboard.
  
• Check if the memory stick/HDD or SSD hard drive/CPU has accidentally touched the motherboard's circuit board when replacing the fan, which could cause damage to the capacitors and subsequently cause it not to boot up.
  
• Make sure the power supply is working properly and can provide enough wattage for the fan and other components
  
• Inspect the motherboard, wires, and other internal parts for any signs of damage or loose connections.
  
• Ensure that the motherboard is not touching the case or any cables underneath it.
  

If none of these steps work, you may need to contact a professional hardware technician or go to offline PC repair store to get a cross-check of your PC.
