    My file explorer takes so long to load once I open my PC


    My PC opens and shows my desktop but everything is frozen and the task bar icons are not shown for a long while after I open my PC. It only loads when I press Win+E multiple times from my keyboard.Windows 10 and recently updated.Memory is not full.There are no corrupt files when I run the sfc/scannow command.Also after it loads, when I try to restart file explorer from task manager, it still takes so much time.

    File Explorer taking long time to load on new PC

    recently i bought a new pc for college and gaming (Lenovo Legion T5) with decent specs, but out of nowhere whenever i wanna open the File Explorer it takes about 5 minutes to load, which is arguably a long time considering my 5 year old laptop loads it almost instantly. My C drive has 203GB worth of ZBrush files, pictures and about 2 games and my D drive is 931GB but basically empty. is there anything i can do so my file explorer opens faster?

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    My file explorer takes so long to load once I open my PC

    Tabbed File explorer sidebar takes a long time to load

    Soon after receiving the update to add tabs to the file explorer, the sidebar takes quite a while to load. Often it will take up to around 10 seconds to load the sidebar with all my pinned locations.

    I notice this issue whenever I open the file explorer, open a new tab in file explorer, or when explorer opens to display locations to save a file.

    Is this a bug? Are there any known troubleshooting steps or workarounds?
