Windows 10: My files go missing and my apps won't open

Sometimes when I turn my computer off and turn it back on, all of my files go missing. I've gotten a flash drive, so the missing files isn't a problem anymore. But, my apps won't open. I double click an app and wait for a while but nothing happens. The only apps that do open are: File explorer, Google, and a drawing app I have. I only have two apps installed on this computer, so I don't think too many apps could be a problem. I have a top rated Anti-virus app installed and I've scanned my computer many times, but it says there's no virus. I was thinking about taking my computer in to clean it, but I'm not sure if it will help. I've searched the web for solutions to this problem, and have actually tried the most helpful ones, but not one has worked. This problem has been going on for 2-3 months now. I thought after the first 2 times this has happened, it would stop, but it hasn't. A few days it will be fine, but then the next it will wipe everything again. Any suggestions?

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Run Windows app troubleshooter.

Step 2: Run shell commands for Windows store and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt(Admin) to open elevated Command prompt.

  Type the following commands.
  
  
  
  powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
  
• 
  Hit enter, the blackscreen will appear still for a couple of seconds. After a couple of second a new line saying C:\.... will appear.
  
• 
  Close Command Prompt.
  
• 
  Try to start the Windows Store again.

opening .dds files with gimp

Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?

No, that's not the sort of 'file location' the OP is referring to. Your 'file location' opens File Explorer at the location of the shortcut for that app in the Start Menu's Programs folder. The OP wants the list of recently opened files, or the Jump List as it is known (hover over each one and it shows its file location). Theirs is turned off (and yours by the looks of it).
