Windows 10: My fingerprint login suddenly stopped working, how do I fix it?

I always used to sign in with my fingerprint, but one day it suddenly stopped working and was not shown as a sign in option. When I went to sign in options in settings, Fingerprint Recognition was, and still is labelled as 'This option is currently unavailable'. When expanded, Windows Hello says 'Something went wrong. Try again later'. I have done so multiple times but the message is always the same. I tried following the solutions from Microsoft Office Support:1. disable and re-enable the fingerprint scanner2. check for updates for the fingerprint scanner3. restart services4. manually downloa

My computer is only about 2 months old (ver 1909). A couple of days ago, my fingerprint reader suddenly stopped working. I've deleted the original scan and tried to re-set it up, but the scanner isn't even looking at my fingerprint. How can I fix it?

EDIT - I fixed it myself - uninstalled the device.

the fingerprint sign in randomly stopped working on my lenovo thinkpad (windows 10). everything is updated and i've tried following steps on all forums, including uninstalling the fingerprint login.. now i cant get that back. any help?

 

Fingerprint sensor stopped working

I recently purchased an Acer Spin 3 SP313-51N, and the fingerprint sensor has stopped working. While I was trying to login using the sensor, there was a message that said "there was a problem on our end," so I tried to troubleshoot the problem by restarting. Only now the fingerprint sensor has entirely disappeared from the operating system and is no longer listed in device manager. I have tried installing the driver from Acer's website but the fingerprint sensor still doesn't appear anywhere, and Windows Hello is disabled, with the message "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint"
