  1. My firewall is telling me I'm connected to a public nework

    Hi,

I was recently just looking around on the Control Panel I then came across the Windows Defender Firewall and it shows that I'm connected to a "Guest or public networks" It states below the drop down menu that "Networks in public places such as airports or cafes" But my connection is a home network and I would of thought I would be connected on the top one "Private networks" please tell me if i'm wrong or if I should maybe be worrying in case of security reasons. Also sorry if I have just wasted a bit of your time because I might just be worrying for no reason.

    :)

  2. Best free AV and firewall

Can Windows Firewall block outgoing connections yet? If not, it's one step above useless.

Look into Online Armor for a free firewall.

  3. public network firewalls

looking for solutions to bypass a public wifi firewall, i obviously do not have access to the router or firewall configurations. i use this wifi connection quite a bit and i do online stock trading but my broker software connects via a firewall port and when im on this specific connection i cannot connect to my broker. im going to try team viewer tomorrow to see if that is an option. ive used my phone as mobile hotspot but its a bit slower then i would like as phone service isnt optimal in this area. i have also tried the VPN hamachi and with the default settings of the VPN it did not work either. when it does not connect to my broker it says failed to connect to host at 37.76.5.87. if you guys have any other solutions i could try that would be much appreciated

My firewall is telling me I'm connected to a public nework

    Red light on utorrent 1.6.1

so to clear things up a little, are you trying to upload or download?

Utorrent sets up the firewall exceptions automatically for downloading but not uploading. if you want to upload and you need port forwarding connections, then Utorrent website gives you step by step setup instructions for every type router so look there.

you said that the message read:

"Not connectable. A firewall/router is limiting your nework traffic. You need to open up a port so others can connect to you."

all this means is the connection is limited to downloading only
