I've been struggling with pixelated fonts for quite some time, as shown in the example image. The problem occurs in all applications, including the default installed Copilot. The video drivers are up to date, and I've tried ClearType and changing the scaling, but nothing resolves it.

Scaling of fonts in Windows 10

Hello. I'm a little confused. I installed Windows 10 Professional v10.0.10240, set scaling of font to 125% and got terrible font:

My fonts appear pixelated in all applications. I've already tried ClearType and Scaling,... e3a492ff-11ca-479c-93b6-bd2afe496531.png

Like this I can see in many applications. I tried to enable or disable ClearType, and change various ClearType settings. The result of the picture is the best that I got.

If i set scaling to 100% then all fonts displayed fine (ClearType enabled):

My fonts appear pixelated in all applications. I've already tried ClearType and Scaling,... d4d81733-a18f-4ee3-a541-39417a9d5453.png

But in this case I get too small items for me in some applications.

P.S. Before it I used Windows 7 and also set font scaling to 125%, but I didn't have any problems with fonts.

  3. New 2560x1440 screen - pixelated fonts and icons and suggesting 200% scaling

    Hi,

I have just connected a new 31.5" to my Windows 10 PC and am running it at its native resolution of 2560x1440. This results in extremely pixelated fonts and icons on the desktop and in applications.

Windows 10 suggests 200% scaling, which makes the text readable but massively reduces the available workspace on the screen, and that's the reason I bought it.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my video drivers (AMD Radeon 5800) and have also downloaded and applied all of the latest Windows updates.

Please advise how I can get Windows to display fonts and icons correctly at the native resolution of the monitor.

    Thanks,

    Simon.

    Blurry Text Issue - ongoing

    Hi,Vincent_0917

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

    1. Change Windows 11 resolution: Resolve Windows 11 display blurring

A low-resolution monitor may cause Windows 11 to experience "display blurring" because lowering the resolution creates larger visible pixels. Setting the appropriate scaling and display resolution can help resolve Windows 11 usability and image quality issues such as a blurry screen.

    • Use the Windows + I shortcut to open Settings System Screen
    • Here, set the Display Resolution to match the monitor output.
    • If the screen displays well, select 'Keep Changes', otherwise select 'Restore' and try another resolution.

    2. Optimize Windows 11 DPI scaling: Resolve Windows 11 screen blurring

The dots per inch (DPI) value determines how sharp your display appears. The lower the DPI value, the lower the pixel density.A DPI value that is too low or not optimized for your display may cause Windows 11 screen blurring issues.

Windows 11 can use the 'Scaling' setting to modify the UI based on the pixel density of your monitor so that UI elements don't appear too small on displays with a higher pixel density.

    • Use the Windows + I shortcut to open 'Settings' - 'System' - 'Screen'
    • In the 'Scaling and Layout' dropdown box select an appropriate scaling ratio. It may take a little more experimentation to find the best setting for your monitor.

We can also adjust the DPI for each application individually, which can be useful if a single application is blurry or has a messy interface, rather than Windows 11 being blurry across the board:

    • "Right-click on the application shortcut - select Properties - open the Compatibility tab - click the Change High DPI setting button.
    • Check the box "Use this setting to fix scaling issues with this application" or "Alternative high DPI scaling behavior" to try it out. Here you can try out more options to determine which setting renders the application best.

    3. Enable ClearType: Fix Windows 11 font whiffing

If you're having trouble reading text or having trouble with font display on Windows 11, it may have something to do with the ClearType setting. Enabling ClearType helps improve text clarity and makes text easier to read.

    • Use the Windows + I shortcut to open Settings - Personalization - Fonts
    • Click on "Adjust ClearType text" in "Related Settings" to turn it on.
    • ClearType to fix Windows 11 font whiteness
    • Windows 11 ClearType Wizard
    • Check "Enable ClearType" - Click "Next" and follow the "ClearType Text Tuner" wizard.

If there is anything that is unclear or I can't understand your problem, please feel free to let me know.
