  1. My games go dark in fullscreen

As the title said my games significantly darken in fullscreen almost like adptive brightness. But that is occurring only in about half of my games. And in most games with this problem it is fixable by switching those games to borderless window. But in two or three games this solution dosen't work. And playing windowed games is quite the pain. So am asking here as my last resort. I will be greatfull for any solutions as i really enjoyed these games.

    :)

Windows 10 1709 (16299.309) has somehow disabled 'Fullscreen' in games.

I recently updated to 1709 and have found that games no longer have access to fullscreen mode.

Most games force me directly to Windowed mode, and no longer list Fullscreen in the enum. Some games still allow windowed fullscreen. Games that list the standard Fullscreen typically crash or post an error when I swap to that mode.

The only thing that has changed on my system is my OS version, and I've been using an otherwise identical setup for gaming for years.

Since updating windows, I updated my video drivers, which resolved nothing. Sadly I just passed my 1 week window to undo the windows 'upgrade'.

  3. How do i fix low fps in fullscreen

    Hi, gangZN.

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Experiencing low FPS (frames per second) in fullscreen mode compared to windowed mode can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to try to improve your FPS:

    1. Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can often cause performance issues. You can usually update your drivers through the manufacturer's website (NVIDIA).
    2. Disable Fullscreen Optimizations: Right-click on the game's shortcut or executable file, go to Properties, and then navigate to the Compatibility tab. Check the box that says "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and click Apply. This can sometimes improve performance in fullscreen mode.
    3. Adjust Graphics Settings: Lowering graphics settings within the game can help improve FPS. Try lowering settings like texture quality, shadow quality, and anti-aliasing to see if it improves performance.
    4. Verify Game Files: If you're experiencing issues with a specific game, try verifying the game files through the game launcher or platform (e.g., Steam, Origin). Corrupted or missing game files can cause performance issues.
If you're still experiencing low FPS after trying these steps, it may be worth reaching out to the game's support or community forums for additional assistance. They may have specific troubleshooting steps tailored to that particular game.
