Windows 10: My Gmail was hacked and my Microsoft account was stolen.

I filled out the recovery account option, but because the email has been changed, I cannot recover it, as the 'start' button keeps on saying the site cannot find my phone number which was linked. I am uncertain which account I am trying to recover because I do not know the new email associated with my account. This affects my access to Minecraft, as I cannot play again. I spent over a month trying to recover/search for a guide in this, but nowhere did any of it solve my case.Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have the necessary information and receipts for both accounts. Thank you

Make new user account first, or use some other system if you can ..

Not necessary been hacked - could be spam.
Check latest account activity at gmail

Any unknown sources - your accound was compromised.

Change password, and set 2 step verification.

 

Microsoft Account Hacked

There is nothing of value that anyone can do about your hacked account.

But there is a lot that you now have to do, and the sooner the better:

• Change all your passwords
  
• Abandon your email accounts and get new email accounts
  
• Tell all your contacts not to open messages from your old account
  
• Freeze your credit reports
  
• Contact your financial institutions
  
• Be on the lookout for signs that your identity has been stolen
  

Whoever hacked your account knows everything about you that is in that account.

Also may I suggest you change email accounts to one of the following.....

Gmail
Outlook

The reason is they both use "Step two verification". This style of verification means even if a hacker gets your password they cannot log in to your account. You see every time someone try's to log in that hasn't been verified you will get a text or a phone call giving you a final code to log in. Its very easy and simple to setup also. The great thing is once you setup your Email application with a specific "application password" from that account you never have to log in again AND your account is protected from being logged in from foreign entities.

I like the new outlook personally however Gmail is also damn good. Gmail also has an IP tracker that allows you to see WHERE the account has been logged in from. Anyway let us know if you wanna change over and have any questions. We will be happy to help and welcome to TPU!
