Windows 10: My HDD makes a constant high pitched sound only in Windows 10.

Hello, I have recently upgraded my HDD to a new 6TB model, and set up a multiboot system on my SSD with Win10, Win7, and LinuxMint.

However on Windows 10 (and only on Windows 10) my HDD starts making this really annoying high pitched sound roughly 10-20 minutes after boot.

If I open the HDD and start copying something, the sound stops. So my hypothesis is that instead of HDD shutting down and going to low maintenance mode when it's not being used, (like my other HDD does) Win10 somehow prevents that so it goes into this weird mode that makes the high pitched noise.

Anyone got any ideas of how to fix this?

High pitched chirp sound on videos

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and have 2 issues now:

1- At the beginning of videos on my PC and online, there is a loud, very high-pitched chirp sound. Last time I fixed this, it was a setting in RealTek.

2- RealTek audio driver is installed, but it does not show up in the list of drivers. I do a system check for updates or to see if it is working properly.

I am worried about uninstalling RealTek completely, because I read other users did that and now they do not have any sound. Please help!

Hi georgelove3, just to clarify, when you uninstalled the driver and re-install it again, your headphone has a working sound now? but the high-pitched noise is still there?
