Windows 10: My headphones show up as speakers when putting them in the audio jacks and when I plug in...

Hey everyoneSo I just got some new speakers and I have my headphones connected in the rear headphone jack and they show up as speakers even after I say they are headphones. But the main issue is that none of my other audio jacks work when trying to plug in my speakers.Can anyone help?

Laptop speakers and plugged in headphone audio plays at the same time

Just downloaded the most recent Windows 10 update. But now, even when my headphones are plugged in, I get audio from both the headphone and the internal speakers. Instead of a separate "speaker" and "headphone" sections in the sounds menu, it's listed
as "Speaker/Headphone." Surely, this is not a feature people wanted. There is no problem when using Bluetooth headphones, just the audio jack.

Your sound driver may have options to enable/disable jacks based on what's plugged in the front/rear. For instance, my Realtek driver has:





As for removing the broken plug it would depend on how far in it broke and how tight the jack is. I don't have any personal experience but there are a number of suggestions if you Google for "how to remove broken 3.5mm jack."

 

No speakers or headphones are plugged in

My sound icon is showing a red X, and hovering on it shows "No speakers or headphones are plugged in". Plugging headphones in makes no difference. Troubleshooter says the "audio peripheral doesn't appear to be plugged in. check the connection", and right
clicking sound icon shows "Speaker setup (UNKNOWN)" and the only option it offers is OFF. Settings for sound show NO OUTPUT DEVICES FOUND. I have checked my headphone with the rear and front port jack points of the desktop.

Realtek HD Audio Manager shows a blank screen and say "To activate GUI, please plug in an audio device in the system."

Have checked bios. Audio is enabled in bios.

Device Manager for Sound, video and game controllers checked and it shows everything is working fine.

I have already Updated the latest audio driver from computer manufacturers site. Have tried installing and reinstalling the driver. Windows audio services restarted.
