Like I said in the question, my headphones work in other devices, volume mixer says audio is playing, and all my drivers and things like that are updated. I don't understand why I can't hear anything and I tried troubleshoot which didn't work.

Set new audio device default for volume mixer in Windows 10

I use two audio devices:

• Default (audio) device "Realtec Digital Output (Optical)"
  
• Default communication device "Lautsprecher (Speaker)"
  

My goal:
I want to have the default audio volume on my default communication device, instead of the default device - at all times.

What I tried so far:
Changing the volume mixer to my communication device explicitly works temporary, but as soon as I close the settings window, the default audio volume is reset again to the default audio device.

How can I make it permanent that windows uses my communication device for default volume control?

 

Headphone jack not working with any of my devices (Windows 10)

1. Yes, I mean the Headphone plug-in slot where you connect your headphone wire.

2. No, I don't get any kind of notification when I plug in any kind of headphone or speaker.

I've checked with other devices and speakers/headphones all work with them.

I'm not sure what to look for to download the latest chipset drivers.

When I plug in my speakers or headphones, there is no new device added to the list under "Playback devices". It usually just works from the same playback device named "Realtek High Definition Audio". My volume level does change to what I set the volume for
the speaker/headphones before I disconnected it. So if I previously set my volume to 100 for my headphones before, it'll go back to 100 when I reconnect it, even if I change my volume to 30 when disconnected. The only other devices I have listed under "Playback
devices" are Bluetooth devices.

So your suggestion to click "Set Default" for my device doesn't apply because there is no other device that is added to the list. It has previously just worked under "Realtek High Definition Audio". Whenever I plug something in, it changes the volume level
and immediately starts working. But now it doesn't play audio.

Again, no new device is listed when I plug in my speakers/headphones. I check the Device Status for "Realtek High Definition Audio" when nothing is connected and it says it is working properly. Then I plug in my headphones/speakers and open up Device Manager
again and it still says it is working properly.

Note: The audio level bar next to "Realtek High Definition Audio" in my Playback Devices goes up and down when I play something on my computer, indicating that it is registering the sound but it is simply just not playing through my devices.

 

Audio playing through speakers while headphones are plugged in

I have just got a new HP Spectre and I have discovered that when I plug headphones in the sounds continues playing through the speakers despite the laptop recognising that I've plugged headphones into the audio jack.

Going into the volume mixer nothing is muted. Both my Speakers and Headphones are described as Conexant ISST Audio.

Going into the playback devices my headphones are set as the default device.

I cant seem to run audio tests on my headphones while I can on my speakers.

Running troubleshooting on my headphones reports that Issues are found with Audio not responding however none of the other potential issues are present.
