Windows 10: My headset has a built-in microphone, but I am unsure how to use it.

Recently. the jack of one of my microphone became lodged in my pc, and I am currently in the process of attempting to resolve the issue. However, I am in need of a microphone for gaming. Consequently, I decided to try using the built-in microphone of my headset, but it does not appear as an available microphone option. I am uncertain as to how to proceed.

I did disable the built-in microphone a few times during my initial troubleshooting. But that doesn't force the headset to pick up the sound input function. Even after reboot, I just have no microphone
at all while sound still comes through the headset.

SB had issue (twice now) where the Realtek built-in microphone didn't work when I was skyped. Rather than shutting down and rebooting the whole SB, I tried in Sound/Properties to disable the device so I could then enable the device.

But when I disabled, the microphone disappeared completely. Tried reinstalling drivers, uninstalled Realtek drivers, and reinstalled. Bluetooth headset works. Plugged in (3.5 mm) headset works - but not the built in microphone as it doesn't even appear
in the list.

Called MS tech support, but all they know how to do is read off a script. There last suggestion was to re-install the machine. Sounds like a sledgehammer for a fly solution.

In order to help you resolve issues with the microphone on headset, we suggest the you run the built in troubleshooter in you PC. Here are the steps:

• In the Search Box, type Troubleshoot and press
  Enter.
• Look for and select Recording Audio, and press Run the troubleshooter.
• Follow the onscreen instructions.
