So, I have to have my headset plugged into the back of the PC. And the sound is a lot more quiet than it used to be.I've been troubleshooting it all day and I'm at the end of my sanity. My audio drivers are up to date.I'm using Realtek, but I can't open the console for it. It just won't even start.I am using an extender for the cable.I am running Windows 10If anyone can help, I'll do what I can to provide any other information.

Headphones not working when plugged into the rear jack.

Hello there, recently I bought a headset and plugged it in the rear jack. It came with both audio and microphone jack.

When I plugged it in the rear jack it would show that it's playing sound in the sound control panel, but there would be no sound coming from it.

However, when I plug it in the front jack it works perfectly but there's a lot of static coming from it.

I tried plugging it in the rear jack again and it worked but I had to switch the default device over to my speakers?

I also had to switch my microphone for some reason, and the one, when plugged in the rear jack, is really quiet but has less static.

If anyone knows what this could be, please tell me I'll be very thankful.

Rear audio ports always show as “Not plugged in”

I've been having this issue with Windows for about a week now which NONE of the back panel/front panel connectors (speakers, microphone) are being recognized by Realtek audio manager. The only audio input/outputs that are showing are the optical.
Troubling shooting steps I've tried (none worked):

    • COMPLETELY uninstall all Realtek drivers/reinstall
    • Tried using windows drivers
    • Reinstall Windows 10
    • Upgraded chipset driver
    • sfc /scannow
I called EVGA and asked for RMA but then I booted into a Ubuntu OS and all the ports work FINE. It must be a problem with windows 10.
Can you think of any other troubling shooting step I can try to fix this annoying issue? Thanks!

After looking in Device Manager under Audio inputs and outputs, I don't see any speaker/microphone listings, only the optical crap:

Rear audio jack is very quiet with headphones plugged in

My front audio jack broke so now I'm trying to use my rear audio jack to plug my headphones into. Windows is detecting the headset as
Speakers "High Definition Audio Device" and it is set to the default device. I've gone through everything the windows troubleshooter has recommended and all that's on the Microsoft website about fixing audio. I believe that the problem is that
Windows is detecting my headphones as speaker. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
