Windows 10: My HP laptop has low brightness even though the settings are in full brightness.

I was working on my computer one day until suddenly it went all dark. I shined my phone flashlight on it and I could see it a bit. It’s been several years and I tried different ways like pressing specific keys or going into settings etc. I need to fix it for school!! I tried every single way I could search online but they were all useless.

Brightness is stuck on low

When I plug in my laptop I can change my brightness manually but when it's not charging (eventhough it's not on power saving mode) sometimes the brightness gets stuck on low and when I use the brightness keys (f2 & f3) I can see the brightness bar changing
but there is no actual change in brightness I even used the brightness bar in notification panel and the one in the settings but they don't work either

Who can suggest a fix to brightness adjustments? I cannot change brightness on my laptop. The problem is that buttons and settings don’t respond. Thank you. (HP Steam, Windows 10 Home)

Thank you for providing us detailed information. We suggest you to check the steps below to find the Brightness settings under settings:

1. Click on the Start menu and select Settings.

2. Select System and click on Display tab from left panel.

3. Now you can see an option Adjust Brightness level.

4. Left click drag the bar to adjust the screen brightness.

You can also use your keyboard to increase or decrease screen brightness. You can find a F key where the brightness symbol will be present with + and - sign on it. Try using the keys and check.
