Windows 10: My HP Laptop is not turning on, it shut down after plugging in a USB hard drive.

I plugged in a hard drive into my laptop, and upon inserting the hard drive, my computer immediately shut down. I was told that this hard drive had problems, but I didn't know that it would do something like this. Here's what I know about the situation.Holding the power button for over 60 seconds does not seem to turn the laptop on.The charging light glows when in charging, and when I hold the power button for over 10 seconds, it stops glowing, and once I stop holding the power button, the charging light starts glowing again I don't really know what this part meansI already disconnected the

HP Laptop - Windows10 shut down and then reboots with USB message

I has happened twice on my HP Laptop (new model) running Windows 10 Pro 22H2 where it shut down on it's own and rebooted with a BLUE popup message about the USB. Last night we were watching news, streaming,, and I had the HP laptop plugged into a HDMI cable from the Smart TV. All of a sudden we get a sharp POP, the screen goes black with back and white squares randomly popping up all over the screen, and then it shuts down and rebooted. On reboot it loaded Windows 10 as normal, except that there was a blue pop up message that said: "Keep the USB drive plugged in. Only remove it after your PC has shut down completely. Otherwise your Windows To Go workspace might crash and you could loose data. Only thing plugged in is a USB device for the mouse, and that's it. NO other USB device. I've shut this laptop down at the kitchen table lots of times and don't get that message. This happened one other time when I had just plugged the laptop into the HDMI cable from the TV. Laptop shut down instantly on it's own, as in no warning, and then rebooted. I'll post a picture of what I am getting for a message. This laptop is a HP 15-dy2132wm model using 16GB ram and a 1TB NVMe hard drive. Drivers are up to date and Windows has been kept up to date. Firefox just updated when it rebooted plugged into HDMI port at the TV. Picture:

 

No Usb 2.0 on new HP laptop.

There are several reasons why you are having issues accessing the pictures on your 2 external hard drives. To isolate the issue, kindly answer the questions below:

• Have you tried using another USB cable on your external hard drives and see if you will still experience the same issue?
• What other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Have you tried to connect your external hard drive to other computers beside your desktop PC and HP laptop?

Yes to all of the above, with one warning. You must do things in this order:

1. Create your bootable disk from the site I mentioned. AFAIR it will format the disk.
2. Back up your data to the same disk.
3. Boot up the HP from this external disk.
