my wifi adapter Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 no longer works. The device manager tells me "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. Code 31 The device is pending further configuration." I have tried the following: 1 restarting 2 updating driver from within device manager doesn't work, just spins 3 updating driver from Intel driver updates, but error remains 4 uninstalling the device and restarting problem persists 5 rolling back driver grayed out 6 restoring windows to a previous update won't complete

Intel dual band wireless-ac 8260 adapter issues

HPEliteBook with Windows 7 using Intel dual band wireless-ac 8260 adapter keeps unistalling the adapter.

Every time this happens I have to use system restore to go back to a point where it works. I have now disabled all Windows and HP updates to see if it still happens.

How can I tell if it is the windows updates that is uninstalling the driver to the wireless adapter or if it is something else?

 

This device cannot start. (Code 10). Intel dual band wireless-ac 8260

For my system information, please see attached snippets/pngs.
1. Dual band wireless-ac 8260 driver v.19.1.0 with Bluetooth driver v.19.0.1621 is not working, giving: This device cannot start. (Code 10).

2. Also tried: Dual band wireless-ac 8260 driver v.19.0.1 with Bluetooth driver v.18.16.1 is not working, giving the same as in item 1: This device cannot start. (Code 10).

3. Also tried inter-mixing the above drives; still is not working, giving: This device cannot start. (Code 10).

4. Deleted/uninstalled the said drivers and let Windows 10 install the drivers - for ac 8260 driver v.18.40.0.12; for Bluetooth driver v.19.0.1621, everything is working fine. There might be a conflicting problem/s with the latest ac 8260 drivers.
5. Last weird thing regarding item 4; If I "RESTART" my laptop; I also get not working: This device cannot start. (Code 10).
6. But if I "SHUTDOWN AND START" then wait for about 20 seconds; everything is fine, the wi-fi/bluetooth works.

Your respond/explanation/fix is highly appreciated.

 

Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 Error Code: 45

I understand that the Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 device appears in the device manager with error code 45;

Initially I recommend that you check for updates on Windows Update;

Press Windows key + i and go to Update and Security;

Click Check for updates and do ALL pending updates;

Go to Device Manager and uninstall Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165;

After uninstalling restart the PC;

Go to the link below and download and install the first driver from the list for the Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 device:

Check that the device now works normally;
