Windows 10: My Intel i5 processor fails the Windows 11 test - why?

Microsoft is advising us to check whether our laptops can take Windows 11. On the face of it, my laptop meets all the requirements, except that the processor does not meet the requirements. The processor is a core i5-7200U which seems to have been introduced in 2016. So not that old, compared to some. My understanding is that Windows 11 will only work on something that starts with an 8, rather than 7200. How come such a recent processor fails the test? Was I sold a duff laptop?

You are looking list for Win 10 supported CPU's. Here is list for Win 11 supported CPU's where i5-7200U isn't listed.

It's true that i5-2320 processor is not compatible for Windows 11, according to Microsoft. Atm, we don't have any information, if it will be included in list of supported processors, as this processor is very old.

I recommend you to upgrade to a newer processor that supports Windows 11. You can refer this list:
