Windows 10: My keyboard is functioning incorrectly, but only on some apps. Any ideas?

I just bought a new laptop, a Lenovo L14 Gen 3. I set it up fine, it seemed to run normally, but one restart later after it died and I had to recharge it led me to a huge problem. My keyboard will not respond in some situations. It is working fine in Chrome, which I am writing this on as we speak. It works fine on Microsoft Word. It does not, however, have any response to keys when typing in the File Explorer or the Settings app. This also includes the internet connection screen, as it won't let me type anything in as a password to connect to the internet. To address your concern, we suggest that you try the following steps:

• Click Start and then click Settings
• Click on Ease of access
• Click Keyboard in the left pane
• Turn off Filter Keys in the right pane

Also, try pressing the Fn+ Num Lock keys to turn off the Number lock function.

Intermittent keyboard non-functioning


I use a wireless mouse and keyboard. Every now and then, often enough to be irritating, the keyboard fails to function: the mouse works properly. The keyboard problem persists for a few minutes, after which it works again. There is no discernable pattern to this problem.

This is the third wireless keyboard to show the same problem, suggesting something is wrong elsewhere.

The keyboard batteries are not responsible for the failure.

On the same desk is a cordless telephone.

Any helpful suggestions would be very gratefully received.
