Long story short, my laptop's physical keyboard is busted because of a variety of issues. To rectify this, I bought a mechanical keyboard that plugs in with a USB. This works, but it makes it uncomfortable to sit or work with as I have to set the laptop back further than normal, while also accommodating for the space of the new keyboard. To try and fix this, I disabled the keyboard drivers and set the mechanical one on top of it. Problem solved. Later, however, after restarting my laptop, the drivers for the physical keyboard reactivated and it became a problem again. This happens if I plug in

  2. Disabling laptop keyboard

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

As per the description. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I suggest you follow the steps below and check if that helps:

    • Press Windows + X and select
      Device Manager
      from the list.
    • Find Keyboards in the list of devices and click the arrow to expand it.
    • Right-click on the internal keyboard and click Disable. If there is no Disable option listed, click
      Uninstall.
    • Click File>Exit. Your laptop’s internal keyboard should now be disabled.
Note: If you had to choose Uninstall instead of Disable in step 4, the keyboard will be automatically detected and re-installed if you ever have the Device Manager scan for new hardware for some reason. If that happens you’ll need to repeat this procedure
in order to uninstall it again.

Hope the information helps. Please let us know if the issue persist and we will be happy to assist you further.

    2. Find Keyboards in the list of devices and click the arrow to expand it.

3.Right-click on the internal keyboard and click Disable.

    5. Click on Yes in the resulting dialog box to confirm the action and disable the laptop’s built-in keyboard.

    6. If you don’t see a Disable option in the resulting context menu, you will see an Uninstall option, and you can click on that to uninstall the drivers for the built-in keyboard instead of simply disabling it.

    Take Note:

Windows 10 might automatically update the drivers after detecting the keyboard. If that happens, you will have to make your way back to the Device Manager and uninstall the drivers for the laptop’s built-in keyboard once again.
