Windows 10: My laptop battery died in sleep and it got hot af

It’s a mi notebook 14 i5 10gen 8gb ram and MX350 graphics

I left it for a few hours with lid closed and when I come back it was hot, hot like it never got before not even while charging.

It’s winter season and the chassis is metal so it should’ve got cooled

Only things open were firefox discord and VSCode

Now I’m shutting it down everytime. Please tell a fix if there’s any I don’t know what happened but I’m terrified

After some 6 years I’m using windows again just because it came with the new machine now I’m thinking of wiping it clean and installing Ubuntu

Laptop dies every time it goes to sleep on battery.

As per the description provided, it looks like you are facing an issue with Power plan settings “Sleep mode” on Windows 10.

You can adjust how long your computer waits before sleeping or hibernating—or prevent it from turning itself off altogether. But be careful. On a battery powered laptop, inhibiting sleep or hibernation can result in data loss if the battery dies.

First I suggest you to run the power troubleshooter and check if it helps:

Run the Power troubleshooter which is located under
Find and Fix Problems in the Control Panel. You can open Control Panel by typing in "control" in the
Run window which is opened by pressing the
Windows key and R key together.

If the issue persist.

Here's how to prevent your computer from entering a power-saving state:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Click Control Panel.
• And then click on Power options.
• On the left pan select choose when to turn of the display.
• Under turn of the display select
  Never
• Under put the computer to sleep select Never

Laptop battery issue

Hey everyone! I have an old dell laptop with a pentium 2 and 64MB of ram. Real powerful(lol). It is running 98. The old battery had died and purchased a generic replacement supposedly for that model. The numbers match and all. The problem is the notebook will not recognize the battery. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks. It is just for notes and stuff.

1. Shutdown your laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Connect the AC power adapter to your laptop.

4. Power on the laptop

5. Open the Device Manager by typing Devmgmt.msc into Start Menu or from Control Panel.

6. Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s okay if you only have 1).

7. Shutdown the laptop.

8. Insert the battery.

9. Power on the laptop.

If above suggestions wont resolve the battery charge issue then follow below steps.




Step 2

1. Shutdown the laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Start the laptop with only AC adapter connected to laptop.

4. When you login to Windows OS connect the battery while Windows OS working.
