  2. Activate windows 10 after re-installing (I have lost my product key)

I own a Lenovo T430 laptop. In 2017, I installed Windows 10 using my original Windows 7 product key. Unfortunately, I cannot find that product key anymore. I need to re-install windows 10. Will it be automatically activated after the installation, if I skip the step of asking the product key during the installation?

In my opinion, I believe that my laptop will have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers and this will not be a problem. Is that true?

If not, please suggest me a solution or a workaround.

  3. Lost Original windows Product Key

    Here are the possibility.

    • You can check the product key sticker under the laptop.

    • If your laptop came with pre-installed Windows 8/8.1/10 you never need to enter the Windows product key manually, It's usually embedded in your UEFI/BIOS. Just install a fresh copy of Windows 10 and install all the drivers then it's activated automatically
once you connect to the internet.

For drivers, You can always check the vendor's website.

Windows is activated, but Product Key not recognised

I have had a Windows 8.1 Asus laptop for many years. I was considering upgrading it to Windows 10. My problem is, it states that Windows is Activated, but when I type in my Installed Key, it is not recognised. The OEM key is the same number as the Installed Key. Windows will not accept the Product ID because '0' are not recognised and the Product ID has lots of '0's.

I purchased the laptop from a large company as an open box purchase. Could somebody have done something and then returned it to the company?
