Windows 10: My laptop drops its internet connection every few minutes, without losing connection to...

I have an Asus RT-AC66R router and an Asus ROG GX701 laptop running Windows 10. Both are up to date, and both used to play nicely together. For the past few days, my laptop has been dropping its internet connection every few minutes. According to my router's logs, it seems to be renewing its DHCP lease when it does this, because the lease expiration time resets every time the connection hiccups. My router definitely isn't trying to force this, since the DHCP lease time set on the router is 24 hours. Is there any way I can figure out why Windows is trying to renew the DHCP lease so often and stop it? As usual, windows network diagnostics is less than useless. Half the time it doesn't even realize a problem is happening, and on the off chance it does, it simply says "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings".

Connecting Laptop to the Internet, No connection

Trying to connect to the Internet using my Laptop. (not via the wireless router, but through the Ethernet cable)

My existing PC is connected to the Internet via an Ethernet cable, which is connected to the Broadband Modem (Virgin).

What I have tried to do, is take the Ethernet cable from my PC and connect it to the Laptop... Unfortunately, the Laptop isnt connecting to the Internet...

I have tried repairing the Network, with no success.

I am using the same cable, which was connected to the PC...

I do get error messages, when I click on repair in the Network Connection Tab. Its says it cannot assign an IP address.

I am Using Windows XP Home Edition.

I've tried using the Ping via cmd ping localhost or 127.0.0.1

I get the following results -

Packets: Sent = 4, Recieved = 4, Lost = 0(0%0)

Also done the following -

1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Connections tab.
4. Under Dial-up and VPN Settings, click the broadband connection, click Settings, and then click Automatically detect settings.
5. Click OK.

We suggest you to update the Network adapters driver from the Device Manager.

Follow the below steps:

Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.
