Windows 10: My laptop freezes 99% upgrade

My laptop freezes at 99% upgrade. How do i fix it?

Windows 10 upgrade freezes at 99%

I'm trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The upgrade keeps freezing up (not always at the same place). The first few times it froze at 32%. The last two times it froze up at "Getting your upgrade ready, Installing Windows 10, percent complete
99%". I left my laptop on for 24 hours and it never went beyond that. Of course, when I shutdown the laptop it will revert back to Windows 7.

I had just finally upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 a day or two prior to downloading the Windows 10 upgrade (had originally bought my laptop with Vista as Windows 7 was just coming out and received a free upgrade to 7 but had misplaced the disk in the process
of moving and just came across it last week and installed it so I hadn't been on the list for the upgrade).

I've never asked a question here before so I hope it gets to the right group based on the category, etc that you have to fill out.

  Just to clarify, are you trying to update Windows 10 or Are you trying to upgrade to Windows 10 from any older version of Windows?
