Windows 10: My laptop got connected to a hdmi cable and after that it overheats and battery life got...

I have an acer nitro 5 AN515-54, with a intel i5 9300h and nvidia rtx 2060 graphics card. It was connected to an exterior monitor through hdmi cabl and after that happened both the cpu and gpu are 10-15 degrees warmer than usual while idle and battery life has ben cut short from 3:30 hours to about an hour of use. I know i can fix it by resetting the laptop to its original fabric settings but id really like to avoid that hassle if possible.

• Runs WINDOWS 10
• LG Digital & Analog DVD recorder player combi
• Connected with HDMI cable
• I believe the laptop's HDMI port plays both ways (input/output)
• The LG Device's HDMI Port is output only
• Attempting to play and convert VHS videos, to be digitally archived in my laptop
• What kind of program would allow me to perform this task

Two Questions: Battery Life Display and HDMI Connection

A couple of months or so ago an update to windows 10 changed something to do with low battery life warnings.

I don't know what it was but since then both my laptop and my partners laptop have been very sporadic in giving 10% battery life warnings, sometimes it gives the warning and sometimes it doesn't and the only way we know the battery is getting low (say for
example we are watching a film or playing a game) is because the laptop will switch off.

Sometimes it resumes what what on when it turned off. Sometimes it reboots fresh. It's incredibly annoying.

Today, we were watching a film with my laptop (Acer V15 Nitro) plugged into our TV via HDMI, the laptop didn't give a low battery warning and it shut down during the film. When we turned the laptop back on, we can no longer connect the laptop to any TV via
HDMI, as it can no longer detect the TV's as a screen.

I have tried the multiple cables and TV's, same issues on both. I know it is not the TV or cable that is at fault as both can still connect to our games consoles.

I have been looking around the internet to find a solution to these problems but I haven't been able to find one. I have tried updating several times and reinstalling drivers, that tends to be most of the advice I have seen and it doesn't work. I have found
others with this problem but no solution. Doubley checked Anti-Virus on both laptops and nothing was found.

How is Microsoft going to fix this?

 

Laptop not recognizing TV through HDMI connection

Hello everyone!

First I do apologize if this is not the correct section for this thread.

I've had issues connecting my laptop to TV for the past day. Connection is done through an HDMI cable. Connection was good up until it randomly turned off itself while playing a game. There have been no hardware or software changes whatsoever that would affect it.

TV is SAMSUNG, Model: UE32J4000AW. Laptop info is available in My PC Specs. (laptop is brand new, week or two old)

Here's what I've tried so far:

• 3 different HDMI cables
• switching between ports on TV
• tried all projection options on Laptop
• Disable / Enable both Intel and Nvidia drivers
• Rollback Intel GPU driver and installed it back to latest version
• Re-installed Nvidia driver
• Restarted PC and TV
• Scan for hardware changes through Device Manager
• Checked Intel and Nvidia control panels - there were no available options
• Apparently both HDMI ports on the TV work as I tried them with a tv box.

I think that's all I've tried so far, will add anything else if missed. Open to suggestions.
