My laptop got crashed and it is asking for bitlocker key for recovery and I don't have stored it any where. How I can recover it

Asking for Bitlocker recovery key on login

So I was playing with BIOS settings for reformatting my laptop and reinstalling Windows using bootable USB drive. I didn't succeed and I probably did something stupid. Now I'm not able to login into my laptop. It's asking me for bitlocker recovery key on both disabled and enabled settings of secure boot.

On "Enabled" setting, it says "Bitlocker needs your recovery key to unlock your drive because Secure Boot policy has unexpectedly changed."




On "Disabled" setting, it says "Bitlocker needs your recovery key to unlock your drive because Secure Boot has been disabled. Either Secure Boot must be re-enabled, or Bitlocker must be suspended for Windows to start normally."




I don't have a recovery key. I don't remember setting one. I even searched for it in my Microsoft account. My device (ASUS X205TA) is listed but the recovery key is not.

Note that I don't have any useful data in the laptop, so I'd be fine with reinstalling windows even if I loose all the data. I just want to be able to use my laptop again.

1. Are you not able login to your computer due to BitLocker Recovery Key? - Yes, I am unable to even start my laptop unless I enter the recovery key.
2. Did you ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key on your computer? Nope
3. Are you not able to login to your Microsoft Account to find the BitLocker Recovery Key? Yes. I have a microsoft account and am able to login usually. But i am unable to login when I try to find the bitlocker recovery key.
4. Are you using Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Professional? Windows 10 Home

When I on my laptop, there is a blue screen that asks me for bitlocker recovery key. I have tried asking my laptop company (Lenovo) and my institution both but no one has any answer to this. I have my bitlocker recovery ID number if that can help me find
the recovery key.

Laptop Ask For Bitlocker Recovery Key At Startup Improper Shutdown??

Hey. I do have the bitlocker recovery key but its on a usb flash drive. Its also encrypted as well with axcrypt. So in order for me to access this bitlocker recovery key file, I would plug my usb flash drive into my laptop... then open my password manager file that i saved a copy of on the same flash drive, then i when i open that bitlocker recovery key file, i would then copy and paste my axcrypt password from my password manager to open it. My issue now thought is I do not have another laptop to plug in my usb flash drive into... except the chromebook im using now. The issue is my chromebook, i web browse and download files to it... so not sure if it has malware/virus. So only way for me to do this would be wipe my chromebook clean and then plug in the usb flash drive to it... so there would be no malware or virus? I did write the bitlocker recovery key on paper down but left it at another location. I could contact someone and have them to tell me what i wrote down... would you suggest that? But the issue though is I must have wrote 2 or 3 bitlocker recovery keys down so im not sure which one it is. So what if i type in an old bitlocker recovery key that i had for my laptop before i did a clean reinstall? So it would just show not working? Then i would try the other bitlocker recovery key to see if that works? Again, i kind of do not want to plug my usb flash drive in another computer now because im not sure my chromebook is malware free. But have people gotten this bitlocker recovery key message on windows after say they improperly shut down their pc or their pc crashed and they still kept using it for few hours and then powering it off this way caused this? Again earlier today when i was using my laptop and using certain programs, that program crashed so that is what caused me not being able to click on the start menu. This happens when your applications crash correct? But normally when you enter the correct bitlocker recovery key, what happens? It goes straight to the windows password login screen and you type that and then you back in your computer? Could your pc be corrupted? Could my computer be wiped though? Would it be checking the ssd for errors? Really frustrated and concerned now. Don't want to make any more mistakes. But did I screw up by powering it off and powering it back on? Could i even restart my laptop any other way before I did that?
