    My laptop had been freezing for a couple days, actually this happened since last few days of September, I can't remember how I managed to fix it, but I believe it is after a reinstallation of windows 11, I tried update from windows 10 to windows 11 doesn't fix it, and do a lot of stuff like cold boot, open in safe mode for a couple times, sfc/scannow, chkdsk, dism, disk check, I believe it did find some corrupted file, but it couldn't fix it by itself and I have no idea how to deal with it, but eventually the problem was solved after reinstallation of windows 11after a couple days then, this p

    A Couple Questions About Partitions


    Hello, it's been a couple days. So I decided to get back at the effort of resolving this, but I'm so confused on how to perform the steps you have listed above even though the list looks pretty simple and self-explanatory. Is it possible to go a little bit more in depth and explain it like you're talking to someone who has no experience doing something like this? That would be greatly appreciated.

    Occasional PC freeze

    Sadly I continue to have the same intermittent problem.

    After a spate of further freezes, always soon after morning boot up, last Friday I changed the CMOS battery (needed to remove and replace the graphics card to access the battery). The BIOS reload the last parameter set after the change.

    For a few days no problems.

    Then yesterday a couple of freezes. After 2 or 3 reboots it was fine for the rest of the day.

    This morning:
    Boot up - freeze after 10-15 minutes.
    Reboot - freeze during BIOS after detecting memory before the list of detected drives.
    Reboot - freeze after "loading operating system" message
    Reboot - still OK after a couple of hours.

    Past experience suggests it will be OK for the rest of the day.

    I've run memtest86, OK; Speccy, Crystal Disk Info & Hard Disk Sentinel all report drives OK.

    Any thoughts?

    Andre, thanks for your suggestions. I performed all steps as you listed and it appears that there were

    some problems that have been corrected. I will let you know in a day or so if the "freeze" problem

    occurs again. Many thanks for your help --- this took longer than I expected!
