Windows 10: My laptop has Windows 10 and the Windows 11 update is free, but it is not updating.

I have been struggling to update my laptop for several days, but every attempt has led to failure. Despite my efforts to repeatedly install updates, I keep receiving error messages stating that the update could not be completed. My laptop originally ran on Windows 11, but due to some technical issues, I had to reset it, causing it to revert to Windows 10. Now, it’s trying to receive Windows 11 updates, but unfortunately, these updates are not working. I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this issue.

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.
