Windows 10: My laptop just show 2gb ram instead of 4GB ram

My old laptop I just check the miximum ram is up to 4 gb . Original got 2gb ram installed and have two slot , I just bough an another 2gb ram to install , but I click the task manager it doesn’t show I hav 4GB , just 2 gb ram . What is the issue ?

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

4Gb RAM installed only showing 2Gb

Just installed 1x Kingston 4Gb RAM in my system and only 2Gb is showing as installed! Running 64-bit OS mobo has max capacity of 4Gb (single slot), no aftermarket GPU installed so it is running onboard Intel G41 video adapter and my BIOS is up to date.
Any ideas?

 

RAM - Missing 2GB of active RAM

Ok, then I suggest you to manually test each RAM bank.

Please start the system with 1bank and check the ram installed (I suggest you to start with the two 4GB, once a time). See if they are seen as 4GB or 2 GB.
