Dell intel celeron N4000, windows 11The keyboard was working, after watching an episode of snowfall good series btw you should really watch it which was an hour long the keyboard stopped working. The caps button isn't even lighting up and the keyboard doesn't work on any program i.e browsers, MsWord and even when I type my user password to open the pc

Hi there,

Some Keyboard keys suddenly stopped working on my laptop 2 days ago and I couldn't fix it and currently writing this post using on-screen keyboard.

I've tried the following and it didn't work:

• Troubleshooter.
• Updating, uninstalling, drivers and even downloaded the default one from manufacturer's website.
• Uninstalling latest windows update.

The problem is not with the hardware I'm sure!

Also, it happens with windows login screen.

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite C55.

Windows version: Windows 10 Home 1803

OS build: 17134.90

Not working keys: (see image below)

The m, c and shift keys on my laptop keyboard intermittently stop working.

The m, c and shift keys on my laptop keyboard intermittently stop working.

This always happens when the computer starts up from being completely shut down or after it has been in sleep or hibernate mode.

To make m, c and shift keys work again, I press the m and k keys at the same time over and over again until the m key starts working. Then, I hold the m key down and just let it run for a while. After the m key starts working, I press and hold the
c key and just let it run as well.

After the process I just described and after the computer has been running for a while, the m, c and shift keys work just fine. If I close the laptop, which puts it in sleep mode, and leave it that way for a while, the problem returns when I
open the laptop and try to use those keys again.

I have tried a number of suggested fixes I have found on the internet. Including:

Running the Windows 10 Keyboard Troubleshooter - No problem found.

Sticky Key changes in Settings - No help.

Updating keyboard drivers (to include Uninstalling Device) - Didn’t help.

Starting the computer in Safe Mode - The m, c and shift keys don’t work here either.

Running Windows update – No help.

Updating my BIOS – No help.

Cleaning the keys - No help.

Using a USB connected keyboard – this works, no m, c and shift keys problems.

The on-screen keyboard works just fine.

All of the other keys on my keyboard work just fine.



Any ideas?

 

Built in keyboard not working

I recently purchased an ASUS ROG GL553VD Notebook Computer and a few weeks ago the keyboard stopped working. After a few restarts it worked again, but today the problem came back, and was not fixed by any amount of restarting. Several people on past posts said to reinstall they Keyboard driver, but there was no Keyboard section in the Device Manager. I am currently resetting the laptop to factory settings to see if that fixes the issue. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
