Windows 10: My laptop locks me out for 2 hours after shutting down.

My laptop randomly shut down, the screen just went black and the power button on the side went off immediately, when usually it shows a "shutting down" message beforehand, and the power button takes a minute or so to go out. It wouldn't power back on until I put the charger in, and it immediately turned back on with a message about CMOS checksum or something?, but it was at 25% power for low power, it shuts off at 7% usually.This happened again a few hours later, but when I opened my laptop, I went to put my pin in correctly, and it said that the sign-in option had been disable due to re

Lenovo Laptop 2 hour lock

Hi, I use a Lenovo Laptop and if I get my password wrong a couple of times, my laptop locks me out completely and I won't be able to get back on it unless I have it on for 2 hours. How would I be able to remove this feature. Thanks!

 

Windows is locked out for 2 hours even if Lockout Policy is changed

My laptop got locked out for 2 hours after a sudden shutdown due to shortage of battery power. I read online and changed the Lockout Policy. Still the next time my laptop ran out of battery and shut down suddenly, i still got locked out for 2 hours. Is there anyway to change or remove the lockout time for sudden shutdowns?

I understand how annoying it can be to get such a message to wait for 2 hours.

It happens because of a TPM lock for safety reasons. I am not sure if there's a way to remove this feature. However, you can try resetting TPM by following these steps:

1). Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.

2). Navigate to System > Recovery and click on Restart Now beside Advanced Startup.

3). Once your device restarts, click on Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings. This will take you to the BIOS.

4). In BIOS, navigate to the Security tab, and here you’ll see an option Clear TPM.

5). Select Clear TPM and save the changes.

6). Once your device restarts, add a new PIN using Windows Hello.

To log in, you can sign in with other options visible on the sign-in screen. Otherwise, waiting for two hours is the best option. After that, you can rest TPM.
