    I own an Alienware m15 R6 laptop that runs Windows 11 that I use for work. If I leave my laptop alone for too long in sleep mode can be 30 minutes - 10 hours it refuses to turn on. Even when holding the power button for minutes, it does not turn on. I know the battery isn't dead as I leave it on charge all the time and the laptop sometimes does this when its in my bag moving from site to site or even when its sat stationary on my desk, me and my manager both work in IT and we have no idea what could be causing it. I know it only happens when I leave it in sleep mode. The only way I can get i

    Regarding Sleep Mode on Windows 7

    Only if you (a) have a laptop and (b) use it on battery only and (c) leave your computer for a long period of time ... in which case the battery will become depleted faster than if you had sleep mode available.

    When the battery runs down, the system will do a forced shutdown or go into hibernate mode if you have configured that.

    For a desktop/tower, you can leave it powered on, disable sleep mode and just configure the display to turn off after some idle period. This will let you start up almost instantly when you come back to the computer.

    Screen won't sleep after timeout period

    I have my power button set to turn off the screen so I don't have to wait for the timeout period (that never actually occurs anyways), and a second or so after turning the display off, it turns back on with no input from me.

    There are no devices that can turn it back on, there aren't any problems when I use the power troubleshooter, the display just refuses to turn off. I have ZERO problem going into sleep mode.

    Suggestions?

    Laptop dies every time it goes to sleep on battery.

    Updated to Windows 10 a few days ago. It seems to be working fine, but every time I close the lid or leave it open for long enough that it goes to sleep, the screen just dies. The power button remains lit, but the PC is just completely unresponsive. I
    have to just hold the power button until the laptop turns off, and then turn it back on again. Any suggestions?
