Laptop restarts after closing the lid

    Hi,

It appears that your laptop hibernates when you close its lid. This feature terminates running processes on your machine since it allows the system to use very little power. If
Do nothing is already selected for Choose what closing the lid does
in Power Options, let's try to make hibernation unavailable. Follow these steps:

    • Right-click on the Windows icon on your home screen.
    • Select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Click Yes if you get a prompt window.
    • Type powercfg.exe /hibernate off then press Enter.
See if this will prevent the laptop from hibernating when you close the lid.

Let us know how it turns out.

Hello MatthewWilliams5, welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Luiz Cruz, an independent consultant and I would be happy to help you.

I understand that you are having problems closing the time on your laptop, I suggest the following steps to solve the problem:

In the Start Menu, search for Control Panel and click on the result with the same name.

    Then click on Power Options.

In the right corner of the screen, next to each power plan, there is the option Change plan settings, select it.

A new window will open; from there, go to Change advanced power settings, which is at the bottom of the window.

In the power options window, a list will appear, look for the item Power buttons and cover.

Click the + icon in front of the item's name, and click Lid closing action.

Configure with the option "nothing to do" in the items: On battery and Plug.

Then click OK and you're done!

Did the steps above help you? If so, click on "I solved my problem" and also mark as an answer, so you can help other people.
