Windows 10: My laptop screen and keyboard stop working after sleep / hybernation. How can I fix it?

I usually work with a HDMI plugged in screen at home along with USB keyboard and mouse. Whenever I take the laptop away from the screen and unplug keyboard and mouse, and I close the lid which triggers the sleep mode, then I cannot turn the laptop back on. The laptop screen is black and keyboard is unresponsive UNLESS I plug the USB keyboard and HDMI screen back, so I can see on the screen and type through the USB keyboard and USB mouse, but then laptop keyboard and screen is still unresponsive, but I can still work. My computer stopped sleeping or hybernating from the shutdown

My computer stopped sleeping or hybernating from the shutdown button in Windows 7 and Windows 10. The computer would shut off the display then go to the switch user disply, turing it back on. I tried turning off the LAN adapter by turning off this device
to save power, as suggested. This did not work for me.

I tried another recommendation to turn off the Power Options hybrid sleep mode from the advanced setting menu. This fixed the Sleep mode and allows the computer to shut down, but did not fix the Hybernate mode.

 

Built in keyboard not working

I recently purchased an ASUS ROG GL553VD Notebook Computer and a few weeks ago the keyboard stopped working. After a few restarts it worked again, but today the problem came back, and was not fixed by any amount of restarting. Several people on past posts said to reinstall they Keyboard driver, but there was no Keyboard section in the Device Manager. I am currently resetting the laptop to factory settings to see if that fixes the issue. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

• Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the command line below:

Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.
