Windows 10: my laptop started lagging 2 days ago and now i cant use it at all

after it started lagging i tried to restart the laptop and it took a long time to restart and the issue wasn't fixed. so, i went for chkdsk command which took almost 10 hours without even finishing and then showed the S.M.A.R.T screen failure and repair thingie. after that, whenever i try to open my computer it gives me the blue screen of death with stop code critical process dead. i opened the safe mode in order to save all my files in case it was a hard disk problem but after that i started getting the bsod even in the safe mode. also, from the boot menu, none of the options work.

The only way to restore your computer to exactly the way it was 2 days ago is to restore an image backup of your computer that you created 2 days ago.

Laptop randomly lags

As mentioned in the title, my 2 year old laptop has started to lag randomly, and it does not revert back to normal by itself. A few weeks ago this happened too but it was easily fixed by doing a forced restart. But now, even with a forced restart, it starts
lagging, even on startup.

My performance settings are on best performance. I tried clean boot, it's still lagging upon startup. Any solutions would be appreciated.
