  1. My laptop stopped connecting to my desktop on my network

Hi, I've been able to sync files between my desktop and laptop up until yesterday. I didn't change anything, this started well after the last Windows 10 update, and I have not installed any new programs or make any adjustments to either computer. I tried to do a system restore to see if that would help, but it failed. On both computerts, I have network discovery turned on as well as file and printer sharing.

Anyway, on my desktop, I get the message: 'Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource is not responding.'

On my laptop, when I click on the name of my desktop under Network on the left side of the folder, it shows that it's empty.

Any suggestions? Again, it was set up and working flawlessly, then it stopped working. Not sure if I did anything, but I don't think so.

    Thank you!!

    :)

  2. Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

    2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

    3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

    4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

I Hope you solve out your query soon.

    Remote Desktop Connection problems

Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

    1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
    2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
    3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
    4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
Try the above, post back how it went.

  4. My laptop stopped connecting to my desktop on my network

    Connect desktop to laptop wirelessly?

I have an internet connection on both my laptop and desktop through the same router. I do not wish to screw that up. All I want to do is transfer files from the desktop to the laptop via the wireless connection. How do I do this? I have never set up any kind of network or lan before.. wired or otherwise.

I have read a bunch of post on the net but I am unsure the best way to do this. it's confusing to me as there seems to be lots of different opinions.
