Yes, you laptop will work if you remove the battery and keep it connected to the electrical outlet

The one thing to be mindful of, is to turn off the laptop totally before it is disconnected from the mains, do not just put it to sleep or hibernate before disconnecting it . . .

 

Mains vs Battery for my Laptop

I have a HP Pavilion g6 laptop. With regard to "prolonging the internal battery life", is it NOT good practice whilst using my laptop, to have it connected via the charger to mains electric. Is it better to use only the internal battery (within the laptop)
and simply let the battery discharge over time. Then, when the battery loses its charge, simply re-charge it? When you get an alert that battery life is getting low (and Battery Saver has been turned on), is it better to turn the laptop OFF and recharge the
internal battery then. Or, is it acceptable to carry on using the laptop and simply plug the charger back into mains electric?

I would be grateful for any other good tips on prolonging internal battery life. Thanks.
