    Why is my system boot-up much slower after the Windows 10 upgrade

    Hi,

    I have a high performance HP DV6 laptop and i put in a samsung 840 EVO 240GB SSD. The normal boot time for Windows 8.1 is around 10 to 15 seconds to boot up to the login screen and another 5 to load everything up after login.

    I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 a couple of days ago and i just noticed (laptop is on most of the time My laptop with Windows 10 takes 2,769.625 seconds to boot up :D) that it takes around 90 seconds for it to boot up now. checked few times to verify that.

    To elaborate on that, when switched on, the BIOS loads swiftly, then the windows 10 logo comes up and in about 2 seconds, the screen goes black and the keyboard is unresponsive. Thats less then 5 seconds after switching on and remaining that way for another
    80 to 90 seconds after which the login screen shows up and everything is normal.

    Any thoughts anyone?

    Just wondering how quick people's machines take to boot up to the desktop screen? Mine takes about 40 seconds, then approx 10-15 seconds before I can open anything i.e Internet etc. is this pretty standard? I'm on Windows 10 and this is after a clean install
    of the laptop, so it's not got much on it yet.

    restart your laptop then enable fast startup option after that disable extra startup apps, uninstall heavy software application on ur syste and then do not attach too much extra hardware components to your system. that will boot your laptop fast

    I disabled every Startup program and now it takes 986 seconds to boot, it may be a big difference but I have an SSD btw, This is not normal speed for an SSD

    That wouldn't even be a good startup time for a 5,400RPM spinner, let alone an SSD.

    do you have any system restore points from around 1 month ago when things were fast? Might be worth trying one to see if things improve.
