Windows 10: My laptop wont turn off display or go to sleep unless I manually put my laptop to sleep.

I don't know what's happening, I've checked the setting->power and battery->screen and sleep. I changed it all and its set to like 5 min screen of and 15 sleep, but it won't actually do either. I want it to be able to sleep and turn the screen off automatically cause I will go to bed and my laptop will be running all night long.

ASUS Laptop Won't Wake from Sleep Mode

Problem: about 80% of the time, my laptop won't wake up from sleep mode via keyboard press or mouse move/click. I seem to be missing many common features in power plan too, even after fresh Windows 10 install.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Reinstalled Windows 10 (clean)
2. Updated all drivers
3. Replicated on multiple Windows 10 versions, updates
4. BIOS latest version
5. No USB devices attached, ever. Only USB-C power and bluetooth mouse
6. Disabled "fast startup" in control panel

 

Laptop display after sleep

Hi

1. I have set my Windows 10 laptop to sleep after 10min and turn off display after 5 min. It works fine no issues.

2. I have schedule a task in Task Scheduler to run Google Chrome at 6:15 AM while laptop in sleep mode.

3. I have enable wake the computer to run this task in
Conditions tab.

4. Google Chrome starts at 6:15 AM and wake up the laptop from sleep and no issue.

5. My issue is however display doesn't turn on when Google Chrome starts running.

6. Display remains turn off until I touch the Touchpad and when I touch Touchpad display turns on.

Please advise how the display also to be turn on automatically when starting Google Chrome.

Why won't my laptop *sleep* anymore?

1) change the power options like the others suggested. Settings/System/Power & sleep/Additional power settings. Try programming the power button tap or lid close options to Sleep and Test. Screenshots here






2) if this fails, test turning Hibernation to Off by opening command prompt or powershell (admin) {don't worry, this is easily reversible}. Type powercfg -h off then Enter.
Confirm by going back to the 'additional power options screen and Hibernate will not be there anymore, like on my system screenshot above where I've had it off for years to disable Fast startup.
Try Sleep now (or better yet, after a reboot). If fixed, great. If not and you actually use Hibernate, simply replace off with on in the command prompt. Good Luck
