    My laptop's audio is bad

refreshed my laptop and my microsoft high definition Audio device

The Microsoft "High Definition Audio" driver is only a generic, basic function driver. The Realtek, if that is what you have, is the full featured sound hardware driver.

You do not have the exact PC model listed in the "My Computer" so I can't comment further on why Realtek sounds bad to you. Realtek is the most commonly used audio device. I have a recording studio with high end audio hardware but the Realtek on my computer sounds great and I use it to check how my song mixes sound.

Many Laptop's come with software audio enhancement, such as Dolby or Creative (SoundBlaster) to make the laptop speakers sound better. It sounds like that is missing from yours. Go to the HP downloads for your model and see if there are any addons listed.
