Windows 10: My laptop's network adapter got deleted and I can't install it

Its windows 7,i had this laptop for more than 4 years , it wasn't that well working when i first got it , i was given this laptop from someone because they don't to use it anymore well anyways i was watching a few videos but suddenly my wifi got disconnected and i tried to connect but it said"windows was unable to connect to the WiFi" , i looked up for tutorial and i tried one tutorial where it said to uninstall the network adapter and click scan for hardware changes where it would automatically install the adapter and somehow connect but when i tried it , it won't install at all and i have no

Install a driver for your network adapter

Go to the list of network adapters in the control panel, turn of the lan and turn it on again. See if that helps.

Which network adapter?

My friend recently came over to my house with his laptop. Before I could connect him to my lan he detected several wireless networks in the area. I want to connect to these wireless networks, but I don't know what kind of adapter I need. I searched his laptop model and this is his network adapter http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/wireless_n/overview.htm

It seems he could get both N, and G signals

what would any of you guys suggest?
