Windows 10: My Lenovo laptop runs a 64 bit version of Windows 8 but Windows Update does not work at...

When I try to launch Windows Update I get an error code: 80072EFE but no solution to fix the error. Also, my Windows Defender will not update. It starts the process and then stops and shows me the last virus and malware definitions that were installed back in June of 2023. Does anyone know how to get around these problems so I can install update for all Windows 8 updates?

Windows 8 Pro - 64 bit on a Dell E6410 ATG?

I own a Dell E6410 ATG. I have recently upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and am enjoying the new features of Win 8 Pro. When I got the computer it had a 32 bit version of Windows 7 on it. So I used the 32 bit version of Windows 8 Pro when loading the new OS.

But as I read the specs of the now discontinued Dell E6410 ATG it shows that it was capable of operating using the Windows 7 64 bit OS. I also maxed the Memory (ram) out at 8GB.

It appears that I may be able to use more of the installed memory if this computer was using the 64 bit architecture.

I am not technically brave enough to just attempt loading the Windows 8 Pro 64 bit OS and see if it works.

Has anyone here tried this or have any input on this?

Okay quick update, so both of my windows 7 discs give me this upon installation *Wink




Just tried installing with my windows vista 32-bit disc, first thing that comes up is your product key so i can't tell which versions it supports, but as from what i've read where you type in your product key from here it will then install whatever version of vista your key is? Is that correct? Im still working on getting a 64-bit iso for vista. Does anyone have any old coa's or vista keys that they have when they upgraded to 7 or anything i can just type in to figure out if these discs install right? I won't run the OS im just making sure they work *Wink PM me please with that.

Here's my current list of windows discs for reinstalls on systems.
-Windows xp Home edition OEM 32-bit(for laptops and desktops that come with COA's)
-Windows xp Home edition retail 32-bit
-Windows xp Professional OEM 32-bit (for laptops and desktops that come with COA's)
-Windows Vista 32-bit (should work for anything correct?)
-Windows Vista 64-bit (still working on getting .iso but should work on anything correct?)
-Windows 7 32-bit retail (works for every version)
-Windows 7 64-bit retail (works for every version)

Does anyone know any other discs that would come in handy for repairing computers? Is XP media center one i should get along with xp 64-bit? And what versions does 64-bit xp come on?
