My local PC profile is connected to my son's Family account, and I can't remove it

Hello. I am having a problem with my windows PC user profile. We use Microsoft Family Safety to control our kids' screen time. I logged into my son's xbox account using Chrome on my PC, then logged off. Now my main PC local profile shows his e-mail address, and my computer is showing up as a device in his Microsoft Family Safety settings. I have tried deleting the device from his Microsoft Family account, but it keeps coming back, and I can't get my primary PC profile to disassociate from his account. I reached a Microsoft technician who spent about an hour troubleshooting via screen share but

Bypass Family Settings by conversion to Local Account

What you describe should be impossible. To test this I just now created a child account on my PC and signing in to it tried to change it to either an admin account or a local account. Could not do that.

The only way your son can change his account to a local account and "remove" it from Family, or create a new account is to have access to an admin account on that same PC (your account), or alternatively access to your admin MS account's Family settings online. For that he needs both your MS account username and password. It means that if you protect your own personal admin account (MS account) with a strong password and especially the Two-Step Verification, he has no way to access that account and he should not be able / is not able to change your Family settings or his account status.

  3. New Local Account Not Working In Windows 10

    Hi Scott,

This issue could have happened due to corrupted profile on your Windows 10. We suggest that you delete the non-working profile on your PC and try to register it again.

To delete your non-working account, we suggest that you follow these steps:

    • Click on the *Start menu**. It's the Windows logo in the bottom left of your screen.

    • Click on Settings.

    • Click on Accounts.

    • Click on Family & other users.

    • Click on the account you wish to remove.

    • Click on the remove button.

    • Click on the Delete account and data button.

We also suggest that you follow the steps on this
    link
to create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.

Child's account history not showing up in Microsoft Family Safety

Just to confirm, have you tried using a different browser and check if the issue persists? Since doing the steps provided on the link didn't help you resolve your concern, we would suggest you to recreate your son's account on the Alienware computer. To
do so, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Click Accounts.
    • Click Family and other
      users
      .
    • Click Sign in with
      a local account instead
(to convert her account to a local account).
    • After doing so, delete the local account. To delete a local account, kindly follow the steps below:
      • Go to Settings.
      • Click Accounts.
      • Click Family and other
        users
        .
      • Click the local account and then, click Remove.
      • A new window will open, click Delete account and data.
    • After deleting the local account, re-link the Microsoft account of your son as a user, then add it to your family.

For more information on how to add a child account to your family, kindly click
    this link.

Let us know how it goes.
