Windows 10: My mic is sounding muffled and distorted

Hi. I recently got a new laptop and it worked perfectly. However, recently it has started really muffling my mic to the extent that you cannot understand what is being said and sometimes no audio comes through at all. I know it is not my microphone because I am having the same problem with several different inputs/mics. Does anyone know what is going on or having any tips?

N93 mic sounds muffled

When I record sound on my N93 the result sounds "muffled." You can hear the effect on the videos here:

Is this the standard sound of the N93, or is there something wrong here.

I thought the mic might be blocked, and found two holes that must be the mics, one with an "L" the other with an "R" beside it. The holes seem to be clean with no blockage.

Perhaps the mic or electronics are not picking up the higher frequencies, giving a low muffled sound.

Please advise on how to get a "bright" higher quality sound out of my N93.

muffled sound on headset

Since some days my headset sounds muffled. Mostly voices are muffled i can hear music just fine. If i don´t plug in the headset all the way, i can hear perfectly fine but then my mic doesn´t work. I have an other headset (not as good) where everything works perfectly fine. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

 

sound distorted after windows 10 anniversary upgrade

This is where I'm at on my HP laptop with Windows 10 and the Anniversary update.

I completed step #3 "hardware and sound" but that took me to an option for "sound, speakers." There was no "properties" as step #4 suggests. I selected "sound, speakers" and then found "properties." After selecting "properties" there was no "enhancements
tab" as step #5 suggests.

Regardless, I then uninstalled the realtek audio driver. I noticed that when I did this without restarting my laptop that the sound was now tinny, but not distorted as it was previously. After restarting, the sound was again full, yet distorted.

Realtek still shows in my programs list, though it shows no memory is used.
