Windows 10: My Microphone is not being detected by desktop apps even thought they have access permission.

So i own a Lenovo Ideapad 3 with windows 10 as an OS. lately i have been having problem with my integrated microphone where the app like discord and games are detecting the mic well. it appears in the option for the input device yet it doesn't work.as it is shown down bellow when i right click the speaker icon in the task bar and choose sounds > Recordings.the microphone is shown as a default device and is detecting sound. And if i go to the Settings > Privacy > Microphone i would find the option for "Allow Desktop apps to access your Microphone " turned on. and that discord is in t

If you're having trouble with your microphone, let's start by making sure your microphone has full permission to run in Windows. If your microphone is no longer detected after updating Windows 10, you may need to give apps permission to use it.

• To let apps access the microphone, select the Start button, and then select Settings > Privacy > Microphone.

• Under "Allow access to the microphone on this device", it should state, "Microphone access for this device is on." Select the
  Change button to make sure the setting is set to
  On.

• Then make sure Allow apps to access your microphone is also set to On.

• After allowing access to the microphone, you can choose which apps can access these features under Choose which apps can access your microphone.

Under the category: settings/Privacy & security/microphone, it is possible to turn on/off some apps permission to access the microphone. However several apps are lumped together into the last category of the list called "Let desktop apps access your microphone". This generates problems since steam, discord, zoom, e.t.c are all in this category which basically removes the users abillity to use mic on discord but not steam. This lack of flexibillity could easily be solved if microsoft would make individual on/off-switch for all desktop apps that wish to access the microphone in windows 11.

Ideally, any privacy setting that is to be set-up should be done within the app.
On ScreenRec, the microphone is selected by default to allow you to add audio narration. I would suggest you to look for a setting within the app that could help you tweak the recording settings. You may want to refer to the article
