How can I make a Base Microphone work without it turning off the speakers?

  Right click on the speaker icon.

  Select playback devices option.
  
• 
  Now select the speaker as default.

  Now go to recording devices option and select the microphone as default and click on apply.

Built in microphone not working

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.

Microphone not working every 10 seconds

To assist you better I would like to know try connecting other microphone device and let us know the status.

The issue you are facing could be due to the Microphone driver is outdated. Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below methods.

Method 1.

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the mouse driver and check.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate Universal serial bus and click on it to expand the same.
  
• 
  Right-click the on the microphone device and select
  Uninstall.
  
• 
  Once you are done uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically reinstall the generic microphone driver.
  

Note: If you do not see the microphone device on the Universal serial device go
to Sound, video and game controller and uninstall the driver by following the above steps.

Method 2.

If the above method did not help to fix the issue, I would recommend you to go to the microphone manufacturer website, download the latest driver and install the same. If the driver is not available for Windows 10, you can try installing the driver
in compatibility mode.
