My microphone wont work, cant adjust volume off of mute unless i activate windows, anyone know a way around this?

microphone mutes itself

When i go into properties the mike is muted. When I unmute it works for less than a minute then mutes again. The only suggestion I have found is set as default device which does not solve problem. I have also read it is a virus but I cannot solve with malware or virus scans. It first became a problem just a few weeks ago while skyping. Never had a problem with mike until then.

Troubleshooter finds the microphone muted and fixes, Within a minute the microphone mutes itself again.

 

Easy enable/disable microphone?

Hmmm... wonder if windows has a keyboard shortcut to do that, will research and get back.

There are quite a few keyboards out there that have volume control and mute right at your fingertips.

Edit: check this out "NirCmd" - look at the link for available arguments, there should be one for mic volume

Edit2: it's "changesysvolume" - use "microphone" as the second argument - look it up on the NirCmd refernce page.

Microphone wont adjust

My microphone is very loud and i can not adjust it in windows. When i turn the volume slider up or down it makes no changeling in my audio level even under the sound/recording/headset microphone panel where the slider is i click the mute to the right and
still i can speak and they can hear. At this point i believe it is a windows issue i am just unsure how to resolve it.

Astro a50 headset

USB audio mic

Windows 7 64bit

32gb ram

4ghz eight core

I should add that i have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver 3 times
