    My Microsoft Mouse 5000 model 1387 has stopped scrolling


    My Microsoft Mouse 5000 model 1387 has stopped scrolling. Over the last two weeks or so, the scrolling function became less reliable to the point whrere now it doesn't scroll at all, other than a very slight motion when turning the wheel. All other functions are working appropriately, the cursor is moving and all 5 buttons are responsive.I have tried all the various pieces of advice I have found here, hardware troubleshooter, removing and replacing the dongle, and the batteries, my system says all of my drivers are updated.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Microsoft Wireless Mouse Model 5000

    I am using a Microsoft Wireless Mouse Model 5000 and it just stopped working all of a sudden, I changed the batteries and nothing happened. I started having issues with tracking. It would move and then stop. Can anyone help me or do I need to purchase
    another mouse?

    Hello KatyUM, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that the Mouse 5000 stops working at random times;

    What exactly is your PC model and manufacturer?

    If it's a desktop, what exactly is the model and manufacturer of your motherboard?

    Before answering the above question I suggest that you download and install the latest drivers for your keyboard and mouse:

    Check if you are updated with the latest version of Windows 10;

    Press Windows key + i and go to Update and Security;

    Click Check for updates and do ALL pending updates;

    Prevent the mouse from turning off to save power;

    Right click on the start menu and go to Device Manager;

    Click (>) Mouse and other pointing devices to expand the session;

    Right click on the mouse and go to Properties;

    Click on Power Management and turn off the option "The computer may turn off the device to save power" and turn on the option "Allow this device to wake the computer";

    Repeat this process on all devices listed in the (>) Mouse and other pointing devices section;

    Check if the problem is fixed;;
