Windows 10: My Microsoft Photos App suddenly won't load anymore. What could be wrong?

My Microsoft Photos App suddenly won't load anymore. It initially appears on screen but with no photo images. After a few seconds it is unresponsive and disappears from the screen. I can't even open it as administrator. What could be wrong?

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

photos being loaded in the wrong format

I have tried doing what you suggest with no luck. The photo viewer app is already installed in Windows 10, until recently I was able to scan photos onto my computer in JPG format using the Windows 10 photo viewer app, but for some reason suddenly it's switched
to Microsoft Edge under "How do you want to open this file?" at the top and is saving photos in PDF format. When I go to "Open with..." the Photos app isn't listed.

I have now given up trying to find a solution to the problem as I am totally confused and just don't know how to fix it. Which is a shame because now I can't post and share photos on Facebook, etc.

 

Microsoft Photos App Issue

Roan T - I ran the OffCAT app and ended up upgrading Office to the latest revision (I was only off by one revision). However, the MS Photo is still not working. MS Photo is not one of the choices of apps for OffCAT - only the 6 major Office apps were listed.
The checksum did not find anything wrong with the apps installed, except for the Apple add-on which is used for icloud.

Anyhow, please let me know if there are any other suggestions or if MS is already aware of this issue with larger JPG files.
