My monitor doesn't support native resolution when Extended, but it's all fine when Duplicated

Hi, I saw tons of similar topics already, but this will be more specific. So I have two EIZO FlexScal EV2450 connected to my Dell docking station and the station to the laptop by one thunderbolt. For my work laptop it all work seamlessly, so I assume that's nothing with a setup, but when I'm connecting my ThinkPad T490 one of those monitors loses ability to work with full HD resolution, but only when extended. Troubleshooting I tried many configurations and that display has no problem working in 1920x1080 60hz when it's the only display, or when both of them are duplicated, so it's probably som

  2. Windows 10 doesn't show native display for second monitor

    Hi,

In order to for your Windows 10 to show the native display for the second monitor, you may revert all screen settings back to default, and see if this resolves the issue. If it doesn't, you may try these steps:

    • Press Windows key + P.
    • If your monitor settings is on Duplicate, try choosing
      Extend
      .
    • If your monitor settings is on Extend try choosing the
      Duplicate
      .
    • Check the resolution if both monitors are showing the same resolution value.

Let us know the result for us to assist you further.

    Regards.

  3. Extending display suddenly broke after changing resolution

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

I understand the issue you're experiencing with extending your display after changing the resolution. It seems that changing the resolution to 2160p on one of the monitors that doesn't support it has caused the problem.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

    1. Disconnect both monitors from your computer and restart it.
      • This will help reset the display settings and clear any temporary configurations that may be causing the problem.
    2. After the computer restarts, connect only the monitor that was set to 1080p and check if it extends properly.
      • This will help identify if the issue is specific to the monitor that was set to 1440p.
    3. If the 1080p monitor extends fine, disconnect it and connect only the 1440p monitor.
      • Check if it extends properly on its own.
    4. If both monitors extend fine individually, try connecting them both again and set the resolution to their respective native resolutions (1080p and 1440p).
      • Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Display" and make sure the resolutions are set correctly.
    5. If the issue persists, you can try updating your graphics driver to the latest version.
      • Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer and download the latest driver for your specific graphics card model. Install the driver and restart your computer.
    6. If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can also try performing a system restore to a point before you changed the resolution.
      • This will revert your system settings back to a previous state when the issue was not present. Keep in mind that this will undo any system changes made after the restore point.

  4. My monitor doesn't support native resolution when Extended, but it's all fine when Duplicated

2 Identical Monitors. Duplicates just fine, but when switched to extend, monitor 1 reverts to an unusable resolution config?

I think the title says it all... 2 Identical Monitors. Duplicates just fine, but when switched to extend, monitor 1 reverts to an unusable resolution config? So I cannot "keep" the changes because the screen is black with error message, so that I could go into display adapter to force a different resolution.

    Any help is appreciated!!!
