Windows 10: My monitor has gone blank from setting the phantom monitor as my main

I had fiddled around with the display settings attempting to remove the phantom monitor, and in doing so I have believe I have accidentally set the phantom monitor as my main monitor, so now my main monitor is plain black, I was following this --> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/some-programs-are-displayed-off-the-screen-b2a915b7-4705-c455-febf-8ddb6e7f0ae4 and then when I clicked extend my windows desktop onto this monitor or something similar, this had occured.Can anyone help with this?

Trouble with 2 monitors

I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

Please follow below steps:

• Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
• Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.

Unable to remove a phantom monitor

I've added a 4th monitor to my setup. However, windows is seeing a total of 5 monitors. Not even possible , my card that can only handle 4.

Of course, my problem is windows is putting items on this non-existing monitor. By playing with my display settings I was able to kick all my windows to my primary monitor. However, this problem is probably going to persist until I rid myself of this phantom
monitor.

I think I've tried every trick in the book to delete, but apparently not. I would appreciate any input. This problem is dragging my productivity to a stand still.

 

External monitor blanking often

Please answer these questions to assist you better.

• What is the make and model of your computer and external monitor?
• Have you installed all pending Windows and driver updates?
• Do you get any error message?

I suggest you to install all pending Windows updates in your PC and also update Display drivers. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: I would suggest you to check and install any latest Windows Updates available.

• Go to Start and then Settings.
• Click on Update and Recovery.
• Check for updates under
  Windows Updates.
• Restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.
